News
Well there's been some good news about the man who made a habit of paying by cheque and then stopping it - he's been given an official caution by the police for the offence of obtaining services by deception. This means he now has a criminal record, will be unable to ever work in a wide range of jobs, and if he ever does it again, it will be treated very seriously. The offence carries a maximum of five years in prison.
Our advice is to sort out how you will be paid before going to someone. If you do decide to accept a cheque - and many escorts don't - make sure you use the 'cheque guarantee card' the client should have. (If you need to know what to do, contact us!)
Good Escort Guide
This was published by another agency earlier this year. We like most of it a lot, but there were some problems with the original version - find out more and download a corrected copy here.
Services at SW5
We have started to use volunteers at SW5 as receptionists and at some point we'll also have them in the Café service. We ran a questionnaire about the issue of using volunteers who are or who have been punters or sugar daddies (people who pay you money or give you things for having sex with them) in particular and we've taken your views into account.
Sexual health clinics are very busy in London, so it's particularly good to be able to report that there are now two in London specially for men and transgender people selling sex: The Working Men Project at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington (see the links page) and the new The Diamond Clinic at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith.
Nurses from the West London Centre for Sexual Health, home of the Diamond Clinic, come to SW5 once a week to offer:
The sessions are on 5-7pm on Mondays.
- Screening & vaccination for Hepatitis A & B
- Screening for Syphilis
- Sexual health advice
Safety tips
Safer sex work is like safer sex - there are a variety of things you can do to make it safer. We'll regularly have new tips on our message board.
#1: If something did go wrong...
What else is here?
The document that new clients get about what they can expect from us and what we expect in return.
A page designed by someone after talking about some people's experience of using our services (uses Flash and opens in a new window).
An article on escort reviews - good thing or bad?
We also suggest you read about the the law relating to sex work, not least as it changed last year. Ask us if you have any queries.
The attitude of the police is another thing that's been changing recently, and there's a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advisory group to the Metropolitan Police committed to improving things still further. You can find out more here.
There are a series of leaflets, on the law, money, and on issues for people working ..alone ..for an agency ..in a brothel ..as a maid and ..in porn downloadable from our leaflets page along with one on the basic question of 'is sex work for you?'
Coming soon
Partly because we're particularly busy at the moment with more people visiting us than ever before, the bulletin board is quiet, but do let us know if there's a topic you'd like to discuss.
We're working on a section on working safely, covering both safer sex and tips on working alone, or for an agency or brothel.
What else would you like to see here?
Problem pages? Password-protected pages for things like punters to watch out for?
If you have any aspect of our services or the work you'd like to write something about, please let us know.
In the meantime, if you advertise in Boyz, you can talk to one of our staff there from 2:30pm to 5pm on Wednesday afternoons, whether you phone in your ad or drop it off in person.
You can pick up free condoms and lube then, or call round to our building in Earl's Court during the week. We can also send you safer sex materials by post: email, ring or write to us.
